Introduction

About the Author

Hello, my name is Rykker and I am here today to bring you my beloved chain burn. I started playing chain burn in late 2017, and have been playing it regularly in Master Duel. I'm here to show you how to stop worrying about the meta and love the Secret Blast.

Overview

Chain burn is a deck based around creating chains to rack up effect damage quickly. Chain burn is a fairly simple deck, having only a few simple combos and requiring little meta or game knowledge to pilot. The deck primarily runs spells for draw power, and traps to threaten your opponent and defend yourself. Chain burn has never been a meta deck, but has gone so far as to win the 2017 World Championship in the Dragon Duel division (under 12 years old).

Core Cards

Chain burn is a fairly flexible deck, there are only a few cards that you MUST run for the deck to win. Some of those more important cards are as follows:

Chain Strike

The bread and butter of the deck, with the card unlimited in Master Duel, as compared to limited to 1 in the TCG, your damage output will be sky-high and oh so satisfying. Dealing 400 damage per chain link can very quickly lead to each copy reaching the 2000+ damage mark in 5-6 card combos.

Just Desserts

A simple and absolute UNIT of a card Just Desserts is usually your highest damage output card, you can deal as much as 3000 damage with a single activation of the card if your opponent has 6 monsters on the field.

Ojama Trio

And here we have one of the most important cards to the deck, Ojama Trio. This card single handedly enables multiple others, including the above Just Desserts, and is regularly responsible for ending games in a single chain.

I mean chain burn is viable.. downloaded the game.. like yesterday? Didn't feel like building something fancy.. noticed burn did well in Japan.. 20 games in with 7 loses giving me a 65% win rate . G4 ? Plat won't even be fun.. gonna die to zoo a bit but it'll be okay.. Still don't see why this deck is so annoying for people. What should be more annoying is someone that doesn't know their deck and has to read everything.. Next banlist chain burn will probably get hit some.. strike to 2 ..

Side note" The game doesn't like you going over chain link 6 or 7 . Had a few games where we were or chain link 8 and the game wouldn't let me chain my strike to my strike 😂..

If you are wanting to play this actually.. -use reckless greed.. do not ever just use one.. you want to wait for at least a second because those will resolve with giving just 2 turn wait vs a 4 turn wait to draw..

  • do try and either build chains on the start of main phase or at the end of turn.. on the opponent's turn. that way should all things go to **** you at least have follow up draw..

  • fairy wind is also rather strong just in case to random main deck royal decree. you can chain to activation blowing it away .

I want to thank you, I really like this deck, or at least, a version of it. Having a ton of useful alternative cards listed is really useful as someone who only played Duel Links and most of it was not familiar before.

Now im NOT trying to be a **** head, but i never understand whats the point of playing this sort of decks, whats so fun about it? whats wrong with lockdowning your opponent, build a good board or combo? the only reason that comes in my mind for playing THIS is to **** off people and excuse it as "alternative way to win", cuz if playing yugioh is not fun for ya and this sort of decks is the fun for you, then why you are playing yugioh?

feel free to prove that im wrong tho, its fine and thx for at least understanding my point and what makes this not fun for the majority.

Little late.. What's the difference between someone going full combo and taking 8k because you played a card? At least the second gives you the chance for you unbrick your hand

to me, watching someone combo is fun cuz alot of stuff go back and forth like yugioh we are used to EVEN in old school yugioh, it was all about summon monsters, use spell traps to help setup, then attempt to reduce LP to 0 via attacking, there is interaction between the two players and thats what makes it fun, Chain burn is just i do few **** and i win, which kills of what makes a duel fun, same applies with ftk decks not even letting ya go a turn to even PLAY, thats just imo tho, yes its a strategy and it exists in the game, but thats why the majority are not fond of it, cuz it goes the opposite of how we know or used to play yugioh whether its today's yugioh or oldschool/casual yugioh, hope my point was clear and good.

i also remembered to add, doing combo feels good cuz ya put effort into making a board, and if your hand is NOT good, its fun figuring out a way to make it good and build up your board from it

Lmao that's probably true I played mono blue or u/w in magic.. went to ycs alanta in 2017 or 19 playing final countdown.. :p but yes mostly correct.. coming from a control player stopping or not caring what your opponent does and they have to ask permission is pretty fun for me . I'm currently putting together eldlich because above.. ;p
