The Cyber Dragons Guide

This is meant to be a comprehensive Cyber Dragon (Cydra) guide, and will cover almost everything you'll need to know to become a good Cydra player, including deckbuilding, combos, and matchups. However, if you still have any queries regarding playing the deck or about the information in this guide, feel free to ping one of us in the #cyber-dragon channel in the discord.

Introduction to Cyber Dragons in Master Duel

Difficulty: Easy - Medium

Deck Type: Aggro/Combo

Cyber Dragon (Cydra) is one of the easier archetypes to play and is quite linear in our ideal game plan. We focus on being able to take out all 8000 of our opponent’s LP in a single turn. Although it has tools to win a long duel, this deck wants to and can kill your opponent quickly. Cydras mainly use Link and Xyz Summoning to help them reach a board to One Turn Kill (OTK), and a lot of the damage comes from our primary Fusion boss monster, Chimeratech Rampage Dragon.

Crafting & Building the Deck

Luckily for us, it’s relatively cheap to build Cydra (assuming you have staples). Almost all our engine pieces are in the Pearlescent Cyber Dragons secret pack and Structure Deck: Cybernetic Successor. To start, you can craft Cyber Dragon Core and once you get the cards in those packs, you need to craft Galaxy Soldier, Machine Duplication, Salamangreat Almiraj and Predaplant Verte Anaconda.

If you’re new to the game and like fast damage decks, Cydras are a good and cheap deck to start with.

Deck Core

cp-ur 180 + cp-sr 180
22 cards

Main Deck

Before we get into explanations, let's go over some terms.

  • Baby Cydra: Cyber Dragon monsters that copy the “Cyber Dragon” name as any of their effects. They’re treated as “Cyber Dragon” on the field and in the GY, but that effect does not apply in the hand, deck, while banished, or when set face-down.

  • OG/OG Cydra: Refers to the Level 5 Cyber Dragon.

Core might be a baby, but it's the most gigachad in the deck

As a Cyber Dragon player, this guide brings a smile to my face. This deck can play Cyberload Fusion too, in order to return banished cards from the GY and it can be activated even in Battle Phase.

Great In-Depth guide! I learn to play Cyber Dragon ever since their dark counterpart structure deck came around. Their going 2nd nature is what really called my attention! Their power and gameplan in which they have to selectively decontruct the opponent field is great. I started to play it with DPE package, but might as well diversify to see what i ended up liking the most. Thanks!

Cyber dragon is good but personally I would pair it with cyberdark ya know bc to get most of the other tech cards you would need to buy the structure so you'd just be better of adding them and adding buster lock

I feel like that's a completely separate deck that should have its own guide (hopefully soon!) whereas this is more for the classic OTK cyber dragons.

opinions on fusion deployment? Also how does cyberdark cards work in cyber dragon focused decks compared to machine dupe cyber dragon decks?

Fusion deployment doesnt really work well in cyber dragon pure decks. We have enough ways to get out our fusions. That spot can be a board breaker/hand trap to help us push for otk.

As for the other question: Cyberdark decks will utilize core/emergency/rampage and them as usual but adding power bond and cyberdark fusion boss monsters. Its a shared archetype but the decks are slightly different to an extent compared to machine dupe cydra decks. Machine dupe is all out going 2nd build to cheat into verte quickly. Cyberdark decks are more midrange with more consistency and can set up extra deck locks on top of a non once per turn negate in Cyberdarkness and/or a tower boss monster in Cyberdark end..

Since Therions are out, I think it'd be super cool to cover them in this guide
