Overview and History

D/D/D -Different Dimension Demons- is a Deck piloted by Declan Akaba/Akaba Reiji in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime, that takes real life science, history and mythology and puts it into a corporate structure. After the release of the first cards in the TCG in the booster set Dimension of Chaos back in 2015, the deck had a rough start because compared to the OCG, Konami TCG decided to swap the releases of the structure decks Pendulum Domination, which brought a lot of support for the deck, and Rise of the true Dragons, where Blue-Eyes players needed a single card from for the World Championships in 2016. After the release of Pendulum Domination the deck had 2 weeks to shine until the release of the booster set Raging Tempest, which brought us the Tier 0 Zoodiac format. After that, it became quiet around the deck until the release of the booster set Battle of Chaos in February 2022 which brought new support. With it, the deck managed a top 8 finish in a Remote Duel YCS piloted by

and a Top 32 finish at YCS Hartford piloted by Matt Beck.

D/D/D is considered as one of the most difficult decks to master by many players. With the new support from Battle of Chaos now finally in the game, this deck can show its true potential.

About the Author

Hello, I'm

. I'm a Konami Judge and have been playing Yu-Gi-Oh! since the release of the booster set Legend of Blue-Eyes White Dragon back in 2002. I picked up D/D/D with the release of Dimension of Chaos back in 2015 and it became my main deck with the release of Pendulum Domination Structure Deck in 2017. Therefore it is my go-to deck in Master Duel.

Deck Strategy and Playstyle

The deck is very combo heavy and tries to set up multiple interruptions like D/D/D Deviser King Deus Machinex or D/D/D Wave High King Caesar going first or to OTK the opponent when going second.

. I'm a Konami Judge and have been playing Yu-Gi-Oh! since the release of the booster set

Core cards

back in 2002. I picked up D/D/D with the release of

Main Deck

back in 2015 and it became my main deck with the release of

D/D Savant Kepler

D/D Savant Kepler, named after the scientist Johannes Kepler, is the main Normal Summon of the deck. On Normal Summon it can either return an other D/D card from your field back to your hand or it can add 1 Dark Contract from your deck to your hand. The main purpose of D/D Savant Kepler is to add Dark Contract with the Gate to your hand, which can add other combo pieces to your hand. On its own it is also a 1 card combo.

Its Pendulum Scale of 10 can also came in handy sometimes, but you need to watch out for its drawback.

D/D Savant Copernicus

D/D Savant Copernicus, named after the scientist Nicolaus Copernicus, is your Armageddon Knight and the other main Normal Summon of the deck. With it you can send cards like D/D Necro Slime and D/D Lamia from your deck to further extend or even start your combos. It is also an important part of another 1 card combo.

It has a Pendulum Scale of 1 and its Pendulum Effect can often times save you from the damage you take from your Dark Contract cards.

Structure Deck in 2017. Therefore it is my go-to deck in Master Duel.

D/D Swirl Slime

D/D Swirl Slime, based on an Amoeba, is the main combo starter of the deck. You can use its effect in hand to Fusion Summon by using it and another D/D monster from your hand as Fusion Materials. Its second effect allows you to banish itself from the GY to Special Summon another D/D monster from your hand.

This card helps to set up a powerful board going first and to play through multiple disruptions.

D/D Gryphon

D/D Gryphon, based on the Griffin from Greek mythology, is the newest edition to the deck and one of the 2 main reasons this deck becomes relevant once again. It has 4 effects that can all be used during the same turn once each. The 2 effects that get used the most are to Special Summon itself from the hand if you control a D/D monster and to search a D/D card if it gets Special Summoned from the GY.

This card is a much needed extender for the deck and brings it to another Level.

D/D Orthros

D/D Orthros, based on the Orthrus from Greek mythology, has now become the main Tuner of the deck. You can Special Summon it from your hand after you took any type of damage. The downside is that you can only Special Summon fiend monsters after this card gets Special Summoned by any way.

Its other purpose is being the low scale for your Pendulum Summons and it also can be used as a backrow removal by destroying a other D/D card or Dark Contract you control.

D/D Lamia

D/D Lamia, based on the Lamia from Greek mythology, is the other Tunerof the deck. You can Special Summon it from your hand or GY by sending 1 D/D monster or Dark Contract from your hand or field to the GY but it will get banished when it leaves the field.

D/D Necro Slime

D/D Necro Slime, also based on an Amoeba, is basically the counterpart to D/D Swirl Slime. Its effect allows you to Fusion Summon by banishing it and another D/D monster from the GY.

This card is essential to further your combo plays.

D/D Vice Typhon

D/D Vice Typhon, also based the Typhon from Greek mythology, basically does the same thing as D/D Necro Slime. Its effect allows you to Fusion Summon a Level 8 or higher D/D/D monster by banishing it and another D/D monster from the GY.

D/D/D Oblivion King Abyss Ragnarok

D/D/D Oblivion King Abyss Ragnarok, named after Ragnarök from Norse mythology, allows you to Special Summon a D/D/D monster from the GY when he is Special Summoned. And you can also tribute 1 other D/D monster to banish 1 monster your opponent controls.

The card is mainly used by placing it into the Pendulum zone with the effect of D/D/D Abyss King Gilgamesh. Its Pendulum effect allows you to Special Summon a D/D monster from your GY when you Special Summon another D/D monster. But if you use the effect, the battle damage the opponent takes is halfed.

D/D Savant Thomas

D/D Savant Thomas, named after American inventor Thomas Edison, is mainly used by placing it into the Pendulum zone with the effect of D/D/D Abyss King Gilgamesh. Its Pendulum effect allows you add a face-up monster from your extra deck back to your hand.

This card is a important combo piece for one of the 1 card combos.

Go! - D/D/D Divine Zero King Rage

Go! - D/D/D Divine Zero King Rage, based on Akaba Reiji/Declan Akaba himself, helps a lot with OTK plays. Not only can it shut down your opponents hand or backrow or attack directly by tributing another D/D monster, it also gains attack equal to your opponent's life points if they have 4000 or less life points.

Its other purpose is placing it into the Pendulum zone with the effect of D/D/D Abyss King Gilgamesh in order to be able to Pendulum Summon D/D Savant Kepler. Its Pendulum effect also allows you to Normal Summon a Level 5 or higher D/D monster without tributing.

D/D Cerberus

D/D Cerberus, based on the Cerberus from Greek mythology, has only one real purpose in this deck, making D/D Savant Kepler a Level 4 monster during the 1 card Kepler combo.

It being a Level 4 monster can also help for some other combos.

Dark Contract with the Gate

Dark Contract with the Gate is your main searcher of the Deck. It allows you to search any D/D monster once per turn. It is also a 1 card combo by itself. The down side is that you take 1000 points of burn damage during each of your standby phases as long as it is face-up on your field.

Dark Contract with the Swamp King

Dark Contract with the Swamp King allows you to Fusion Summon any fiend monster and if it is a D/D monster, you can also banish D/D monster from your GY as Fusion Material.

This is such a good guide. I love how the effort was put in to explain what each of the D/D cards is based off of, its such a little addition that makes this a fun guide to read. I'm so excited to finally get the rest of the D/D/D support in MD, I built my own deck irl but nobody in my area plays yugioh so it will be nice to finally use it. And that conclusion, that's exactly how I name my DL D/D/D decks XD

In your Combo 2 - 2 card combo you can also further extend your plays and end on Machina, Siegfried + High King Caesar this way:

  1. Normal Summon D/D Savant Kepler and use its effect to search for Dark Contract with the Gate
  2. Activate Gate to search for D/D Gryphon
  3. Activate Gryphon to special summon itself from the hand
  4. Use Kepler and Gryphon to Link summon D/D/D Abyss King Gilgamesh and use its effect to put D/D Savant Thomas and D/D/D Oblivion King Abyss Ragnarok in your Pendulum Scales and take 1000 points of damage.
  5. Use D/D Savant Thomas' pendulum effect to add back D/D Gryphon to your hand
  6. Use D/D Swirl Slime to fuse it with the D/D Gryphon in your hand for D/D/D Flame King Genghis.
  7. Use the pendulum effect of D/D/D Oblivion King Abyss Ragnarok to revive D/D Gryphon from grave and take 1000 points of damage.
  8. Use the effect of D/D Gryphon to add D/D Savant Copernicus to your hand.
  9. Use the graveyard effect of D/D Swirl Slime to special summon D/D Savant Copernicus from your hand.
  10. Use the effect of D/D Savant Copernicus to send D/D Necro Slime to your GY.
  11. Overlay D/D Gryphon and D/D Savant Copernicus to XYZ summon D/D/D Wave King Caesar.
  12. Link summon the D/D/D Wave King Caesar and the D/D/D Abyss King Gilgamesh to summon another D/D/D Abyss King Gilgamesh.
  13. (CL1)Trigger the effect of D/D/D Wave King Caesar to add Dark Contract with the Swamp King to your hand , (CL2) use the effect of D/D/D Flame King Genghis to summon D/D/D Wave King Caesar from your GY.
  14. Use the effect of D/D Necro Slime in the GY to fuse itself and one of your other D/D(/D) monsters (preferably D/D Copernicus) into another copy of D/D/D Flame King Genghis.
  15. Overlay your both copies of D/D/D Flame King Genghis to XYZ summon D/D/D Flame High King Genghis.
  16. XYZ summon D/D/D Marksman King Tell by using your D/D/D Wave King Caesar as material, use the effect of D/D/D Marksman King Tell to burn your opponent for 1000 points of damage.
  17. Activate Dark Contract with the Swamp King to fuse the D/D/D Marksman King Tell on your field and one of your D/D(/D) monsters in the GY (preferably D/D/D Abyss King Gilgamesh) into D/D/D Oracle King d'Arc, use the effect of D/D/D Marksman King Tell to send D/D Lamia to your GY.
  18. Use the effect of D/D Lamia from your GY to send your Dark Contract with the Swamp King to the GY.
  19. Synchro summon D/D/D Cursed King Siegfried by using your D/D Lamia and your D/D/D Oracle King d'Arc as material.

There is a reason he didn't do that.In your combo you locked your scales by seting Ragna+Thomas which is suboptimal,in case your board gets outed you lose the game on the spot, with his combo he can try and rebuild on the next turn. Also having interuptions split between front and backline is always welcome, your combo doesn't search Headhunt making it worse to DRNM/Droplet.

I'm surprised that the deck is quite free to play, not that much of UR and most of the cards either from the pack or just regular staples. Might try to build and learn in soon enough.

"Some also play a third copy of D/D/D Deviser King Deus Machinex or a second copy of Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder." The second part might be useless to Master Duel players, since the banlist is based more on the OCG banlist, and I don't see them unlimiting Zeus any time soon. Otherwise the guide seems great, thank you for your work!

Preciate the guide. I have been waiting for a simplified guide for this archetype with key combos since I learned this archetype on my own to cause chaos to some of my friends. Now I will be able to cause a lot more chaos

Thank you so much for this. Always wanted to play d/d/ds but couldnt make a good deck.

Niche idea, but bright armeggedon isnt that bad, just isn't worth the resources atm. Could be a useful side deck option when you're playing against pendulum, or a future 15th extra deck slot, on the stipulation that its brought out via Gilgamesh

As a DDD player I can say that it is also good to take D/D/D Destiny King Zero Laplace or also to D/D/D Gust High King Alexander. Because the deck lacks monsters with attack greater than 3000 or 3500, so these cards are useful for passing over big monsters.

just got back to master duel after I stopped playing TCG and through out my 5 year experience with D/D this is absolutely true but i prefer running Number 77 as it not just outs the board (needs to wait a turn sadly) it is also a 4k body that can protect it self and allow for 6 material Zues ... Laplace takes a spot in the main deck that we cannot afford to a card that doesnt do anything but be a big body ... i prefer running Vice requeim instead which is amazing in grind games in MD vs unexpected decks also the recycle, heal and pop it provides is immense .. also makes summoning kali wayyyy easier (which i also perfer over big alex)
