Introduction
Welcome to Sunavalon, a deck originally from the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime. If you enjoy elaborate 1-card combos and link climbing, then this might be the deck for you!
By starting with just a single copy of our signature monster, Sunseed Genius Loci, Sunavalon takes the best of each plant archetype in the game and either builds huge combo boards, or prevents the opponent from playing the game with an Extra Link lockdown. This guide will cover both approaches, but first let's take a look at the core cards common to all builds.
Deckbuilding
Core - Main Deck
Sunseed Genius Loci (3)
This unassuming vanilla is the start of all of our combos. You absolutely need to see this in your opening hand, otherwise there's a good chance you won’t be able to play the game at all. Consequently, it’s expected that you’ll be running at least 12 copies (between itself, and its searchers) in 40-card lists, for an 85% chance to see it in your opening hand.
Unexpected Dai (3)
One for One (1)
Painful Decision (2-3)
Lonefire Blossom (2-3)
The aforementioned Loci searchers - these are the best of the bunch. If you want to run more, consider Piri Reis Map, Draconnet and Rescue Rabbit. These cards all have some big downsides, but fortunately they’re not needed in 40-card lists.
Sunvine Sowing (2-3)
The reason we have 1-card combos now; Sowing lets you bring out Sunseed Twin from Deck, while also triggering your Sunavalon monster’s effect. It’s searchable with your Link 1, which means that a single Loci puts 4 plants on field.
