OVERVIEW:
Starting from Gold leo + 1 discard we end with 2 Liger dancers + A bao on the field, W:P + Silver hound with a fusion in the GY, and Poly in hand to act as a discard for A bao on the next turn.
FOLLOW UP:
The follow up is really strong with this line. The field has both scales which can activate again next turn, Marten + Kaleido + Sheep in GY for additional plays next turn. Only banished 1 Leo dancer so it is easy to summon back Liger dancer if it gets outed. And importantly A bao has an insane grind game which can let you win even if both Liger dancers are removed.
Against hand traps
Since it's a 1 card starter line, it will lose to any hand trap that trades 1 for 1 early such as Ash blossom or Imperm.
Nibiru can be used in various spots during the combo, but no matter when it is used you will end on 2 Liger dancers + Hound with a fusion in GY at least. And if it's used before you make Cross-sheep you also get to end on S:P.
The reason you search Hound first is because you still get to make Liger if your opponent uses Droll at that moment. However if they activate Droll after you have used Kaleido to send Sheep and Gold leo to add it back, you no longer have any way to access Wolf and therefore cannot continue to combo.
If Droll on the Gold leo add, pure 1 card line ends on just Liger + S:P or I:P if played. If the starter was Fraktal then the endboard is Liger + A bao with W:P in GY. With additional extenders the board can also have Hound live in GY, and the highest cap without considering non-engine is to make S:P into W:P into A bao and then use A bao to summon back S:P on turn 1, which you can do with Fraktal + Masquerade for example.
If you draw more combo pieces
It's best to play the line like normal for as long as you can since it's relatively safe and ends on everything. Extra extenders are only needed if you get stopped. there are however some interactions to consider depending on what extra cards you have.
Sheep
If you draw Sheep with Gold leo you beat most hand traps, exception being Imperm on Gold leo.
The way you play this is not much different, however after you have summoned Kaleido you will not activate it yet. You will instead activate Sheep first to search for Poly, and then use Gold leo to add it back. This gives your opponent an opportunity to use the Droll that otherwise would have stopped you, but now doesn't. If you get drolled here you use Kaleido to send Wolf and can continue playing without issues. If you don't you have the option to send a fusion with Kaleido to be able to negate Impulse that was held for Poly. If you play 2 Poly then this Impulse is a non-issue regardless, and you can also play around it by sending Wolf, so I prefer to not send a fusion as that means you will have less bullets and worse follow up.
The line after you get Impulsed on Poly
- Sheep add Wolf from GY to hand.
- Use Wolf to fuse into Perfume dancer using Gold leo on field and Sheep in GY. Search Perfume.
- Use Perfume dancer to re-summon Kaleido and send Marten to GY.
- Marten Bounce Wolf and then make Nyarla, search Masquerade and add Poly back to hand.
- Use Perfume to summon Kaleido again, send Sheep and make Cross-sheep.
- Use Perfume in GY to search Tiger which summons Sheep on the arrow, Cross-sheep revives Kaleido which sends Leo dancer.
- Place Masquerade on the field and use Poly to fuse into Liger dancer, Sheep adds back the Wolf that you used as material and Masquerade adds back the Poly without discarding.
- Use Masquerade to send Emerald bird for another body so that you can make S:P, then fuse into the second Liger with Wolf.
If you get Ashed or Impulsed on Hound's effect to summon Kaleido, you can still full combo with Gold leo + Sheep.
Full combo line from Gold leo + Sheep after Ash
- Search Poly and add back Sheep to hand.
- Use Poly to fuse Sheep and Gold leo into Perfume dancer which adds Perfume, Sheep adds Gold leo back to hand.
- Perfume summons Sheep from GY and banishes itself to search Kaleido by discarding a card that is not Gold leo.
- Perfume dancer bounces Sheep to summon Kaleido, which sends Tiger to GY.
- Sheep adds Tiger back to hand, Kaleido + Perfume dancer make Cross-sheep.
- Tiger summons Kaleido which sends Marten which in turn bounces the Tiger to summon itself.
- Make Nyarla with Kaleido + Marten to search Masquerade and add Poly back from GY to hand.
- Use Tiger again to summon Perfume dancer in the Cross-sheep arrow, use its effect to summon Kaleido.
This is where we have diverging paths, the first option is this:
- Use Masquerade to send Emerald, use Emerald to summon Sheep.
- Send Leo dancer with Kaleido and activate Poly to fuse into Liger dancer. Activate Masquerade and Sheep, add Poly back to hand and discard the card added by Sheep.
- Activate Poly again to fuse into Liger from GY and make S:P with Nyarla + Cross-sheep.
By doing this we end on 2 Liger + S:P + Hound with fusion in GY for 1 discard total. This is good if you want to keep cards in hand.
But if the cards in hand are useless the other option is this:
- Use Masquerade to send Emerald, use Emerald to summon Marten.
- Send Wolf to GY with Kaleido and make Dugares with Kaleido + Marten.
- Use Dugares to detach both and summon back Kaleido.
- Make W:P with Nyarla + Cross-sheep and then make A bao with W:P and Dugares.
- Use A bao's effect, discarding a card that is not Gold leo or Poly to summon Sheep from the GY.
- Use Kaleido to send Leo dancer to the GY.
- Activate Poly to fuse into Liger dancer, Sheep will add back Wolf to hand, Masquerade will add back Poly without discarding.
- Use Wolf to fuse into the second Liger dancer.
This second option ends on 1 less card in hand which is why you may rather do the first option if you have good non-engine. But otherwise you get a stronger board with better follow up.
If you have to use Droplet on your turn 1 to beat Izuna or Hollie sue then you don't have enough cards in hand to do the second option.
If you have to use Impulse on your turn 1 to beat Izuna or Hollie sue then you can't do either of these as they make use of both Cross-sheep and Nyarla, and will instead have to do the following line:
- Make Perfume dancer with Gold leo and Sheep, Gold leo back to hand, Perfume to hand.
- Perfume revive Sheep, search Kaleido, bounce Sheep summon Kaleido.
- Send Tiger and add it to hand with Sheep, make Cross-sheep with Perfume dancer and Kaleido.
- Use Tiger to summon Kaleido which sends Marten that bounces Tiger to summon itself.
- Make Dugares, use the effect to summon back Kaleido, use it to send Wolf. Use Tiger to summon back Marten.
- Make Tiger king with Kaleido + Marten. Use Tenki to search Sheep.
- Use all monsters on the field to make W:P into A bao, and use A bao to summon Kaleido back, discarding the Gold leo in hand. Send Leo dancer with Kaleido.
- Add Wolf with Sheep and use it to fuse into Liger dancer.
This ends on 1 Liger with A bao on the field, W:P and Hound with a fusion in the GY, which is a decently strong board. I have not found a way to end on 2 Liger but will not rule out that it could be possible in some way. By leaving Kaleido on the field you have the option of going into S:P using W:P on the opponent's turn with it.
You can play it the same as the Gold leo line, however because you can't use Masquerade as an extender when it was your starter, that line does lose to nib. It is also short 1 body so you have to end on double Liger + S:P.
Full line
- Use Masquerade to send Hound to GY.
- Use Hound to summon Gold leo from deck.
- Gold leo adds Kaleido and discards a different card.
- Normal summon Kaleido and send Sheep. Use Gold leo to add it back to hand and search Poly.
- Fuse into Perfume dancer searching Perfume, adding Poly back to hand.
- Summon Kaleido with Perfume, search for Tiger, send Marten.
- Use Tiger to summon Marten, Perfume dancer bounce Tiger, make Dugares with Marten and Kaleido.
- Use Dugares to summon Kaleido from GY, send Wolf.
- Tiger summons Marten again. Make Tiger king with Kaleido and Marten to set Tenki, adding Sheep.
- Make Cross-sheep with Tiger king and Dugares.
- Use Marten to bounce Tiger, triggering Cross-sheep to summon Kaleido. Send Leo dancer to GY.
- Make Nyarla with Kaleido and Marten, activate targeting Dugares in GY. Marten search.
- Make W:P with Cross-sheep and Perfume dancer, then make A bao with W:P and Nyarla.
- Activate A bao, discarding Poly to summon Kaleido to the field, send the second Leo dancer.
- Summon a second body with Tiger and make S:P.
- Activate Sheep in hand to add Wolf from GY. Use the Wolf to fuse into Liger dancer.
- Masquerade triggers to add back Poly, discard what you searched with Marten and fuse into the second Liger using the GY.
OVERVIEW: From Masquerade start with 2 discards we can end on what looks like the highest cap board. However to reach that cap A bao also requires another discard on turn 2. The Hound in GY also isn't live because all other Lunalight monsters have to be banished to summon both Liger. These are clear weaknesses, maybe we can do better.
FOLLOW UP: The follow up after a line like this is weaker because both Leo dancers are banished, meaning there is no way to get them back in case your Liger is outed. The GY is also empty other than Hound, meaning there are no follow up plays regardless. However A bao has strong follow up in itself which can be enough.
In order to improve the follow up of this line, we can alter it like this:
- Put Tiger in the scale again, without activating.
- Then activate Poly to fuse into Liger with all Lunalight monsters on field and in hand.
- Activate Sheep to add back Wolf and Masquerade to add back Poly.
- Now activate Tiger to summon Kaleido again and send another Gold leo, then make S:P with Cross-sheep.
- Activate Wolf to fuse into the second Liger using the GY.
Now we still have a second Leo dancer in the extra deck and monsters in the GY to play on turn 3 if needed. The endboard is 2 Liger + S:P and Hound with a fusion in the GY, so the spell negate is live at the start of the turn which is much better. Overall this is the better outcome and it ends on at least 1 Liger through Nibiru.
Maybe we can do better...
If you draw more combo pieces
Tenki
If you draw both Masquerade and Tenki, I prefer to start with Masquerade and hold Tenki as an extender. The reason for this is if you start Tenki you generally want to add Fraktal because otherwise you end on nothing into Droll, but if the Hound then gets negated by an Ash blossom for example, then your Masquerade doesn't work as an extender. Therefore I think the safest approach is to start with Masquerade and play it out as the 1 card combo until you either get hand trapped or reach the best spot to utilise the Tenki.
This is the line to safely end on everything and have at least 2 Liger through Nibiru:
- Use Masquerade to send Hound to GY. Use Hound to summon Gold leo from deck.
- Dugares summons Kaleido back which sends Wolf.
- Here we link Dugares and Kaleido into Cross-sheep, skipping Tiger king because we already have Tenki.
- Use Tiger to summon Sheep in the Cross-sheep arrow, use it to summon Kaleido back, activate Tenki to add another Sheep.
- Send Leo dancer with Kaleido and activate Poly to fuse into the first Liger dancer.
- The 2 Sheep add back Wolf and Kaleido, Masquerade adds back Poly.
- Scale wolf and pendulum summon Kaleido.
- Here there is nothing you need to send so I like sending the second Wolf, that way I have one negate ready for the opponent's turn and another for my next turn. It may seem unnecessary after going full combo but if the opponent didn't surrender at this point there may be a reason for it so take every precaution.
- Now use Marten in the GY to bounce Tiger.
- Make Nyarla with Marten and Kaleido, detach both to attach Dugares in the GY. Search something with Marten, it's not important.
- Use Tiger again to summon Kaleido back and link into W:P and A bao.
- Activate Wolf to fuse into the second Liger.
Optionally, if you play Serenade dance it can be searched by Marten. Then you can discard it with A bao to summon something back from the GY and use Serenade to discard the final card from your starting hand to summon something from deck and make S:P. Of course you only want to do this if the card in your hand is useless.
