Notes & Combos

This climb was probably the easiest so far even with statue gone. Decided to go with board breakers over handtraps for a change from previous seasons. If statue wasn't banned I probably would have climbed with a different deck for variety's sake since I've used floo last few seasons, but no statue is a fun shakeup. Going for 2x big bird+map+dreaming town fields on turn 1 is still often a free win unless the opponent has an extremely blessed hand, and the board breakers give a nice boost to going second.

Despia being dominant seemed to limit the number of problematic matchups such as zombie world decks, and this deck played well into despia's non negate interaction. The board breakers take up less deck space then the handtrap lineup I usually run, so I added lots of consistency cards. Picked evenly and DRNM as the board breakers of choice because they seemed the most impactful and generic, and book because it doubles as imperm protection going first. Cut shifter because its not very impactful vs despia, and cut ash because I didn't want to just run 3 handtraps since for a lot of decks that are not despia, just ash in hand isn't enough.
