Notes & Combos

I'm fairly new to MD, but I think Salamangreat is decent in this meta even without Verte and DPE engine. It has a fairly adaptable style, though it can struggle immensely against Nibiru and effects that limit special summons or graveyard activations.

Some notes:

  • Only having two Sunlight Wolves necessitates careful play to avoid losing both; if I had a third, I'd run it over Underworld Goddess.

  • Bagooska can be swapped out for Abyss Dweller pretty easily, but in a Swordsoul-heavy meta I preferred it

  • Nibiru is a huge struggle to play around; Will of the Salamangreat is the best way of mitigating the threat it poses, so it's best to avoid using it or your other once-per-turn GY effects until after your 5th summon. Running two copies struck the right balance of having it show up for me.

  • The deck is at its best going first, but going second it can tailor its strategy to suit the opposing deck. Sending cards like Foxy to the GY against Eldlich, for example, will help you steal a lot more wins even if you lose the coin flip.

How do you feel about running Desires? Was it a matter of preference or lack of available deck slots that led you to not use it?

I preferred to run other cards; this deck has a ton of ways of searching out what it needs, and running Bufferlo I felt pretty good about getting a workable hand most of the time. It's definitely not a bad choice, but I felt like the risk of banishing an important 1-of outweighed the reward sometimes.
