Turn 1 end board is usually DPE + Transfurlmine + Unlocking, a good hand can end on a UDF on top of that, all while drawing 1-2 cards with the Gunkan XYZ's.
DPE carries you in grindy games and you can put back a brick with Magikey World. I'm only playing 1 Clavkiys because it bricks and is not useful if you only have Gunkans. I cut some of the main deck Gunkans for Imperms to make going second a bit easier. Am not playing the Gunkan field spell because I think its awful and I'm not playing Daily Special because its bad going second and going first you often won't need it to win. Most of the extra deck tech slots I used on a big Zeus engine, again to help you go second. Link Spider is used to turn a normal monster into an effect monster to make Verte, and its effect does come up often as well.

Do you have any replays? Would it make sense to swap out some zoodiacs for the magikey fusion monsters?

Here's a replay of the Magikey combo I usually do https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=420669-45593031Y . I personally don't think any of the Magikey fusions are good enough to play. The level 4 does not gain any extra advantage and the level 8 is very situationally useful going second. You can use instant fusion to summon the level 4 but I'd rather use the extra deck space on other cards.
