Notes & Combos

I'm back with the CopeAuroradon build from November! I tried to really fine tune a build that covered everything I wanted in a board: good grind in the form of at least 1 consistent rescue in GY and an extra Big Red, as well as a board that has protection against Droplet and Super Poly and can set these floodgates turn 1 instead of relying on a trap flip turn 2. I also wanted a board with enough presence to take a Lava Golem without much of a problem, and one that doesn't rely exclusively on Curious to initiate Synchro plays (this is especially important when you brick and need Curious to combo).

This deck's endboard ends on: 3 mat Apollousa (3mat minimum to have space for Don tokens), Borreload Savage, Sleeper, Herald of Arc Light, and Union Carrier with a Buster Lock on either Master Plan -- which I recommend if you are going up against blind 2nd decks -- or Borreload Savage for most other situations. Against Floo/Labs I will either skip Union Carrier altogether, or if I need the extra space for Don tokens I will instead equip O-lion to Apollousa for a 1000atk boost. Savage is built with Accel Synchron + Agent or if Jet is in GY, Accel Synchron + 1 token which then allows you to make Arc Light. CC backrow hate is optional but they make going 2nd against Runick decks a walk in the park.

I sadly do not have a video at the moment for the combo for this deck, but a few can be found on my replays, including 1 where I am Lava Golem'd: 462-550-029. This build is a WIP!

Enough bricks to build a house

It's called CopeAuroradon for a reason, let me live my brick life lmao!!

But ok, if you were to remove the backrow hate which most decks are running nowadays, your only build specific bricks are 2x O-lion + 1 Buster Sword. You could also go 1x Plaguespreader 1x O-lion. Compared to:

  1. The SPYRAL Infernoble variants post Halq that also run 3 bricks in Attack Gainer, Plaguespreader and Smoke Grenade (add to that that you cannot afford to discard Attack Gainer without losing a crucial interaction),
  2. Ravine Builds where you'll have to run Swallow, Buster Blade, and/or 2 Crows for Recital (and while hand traps have at least additional utility, it adds nothing to combo if you draw them so I'll list them as bricks),
  3. The hand rip combo that requires Disturbance Strategy/Trickstar Reincarnation, Sangan, and at least 1 Droll for combo and
  4. The EEV Trigate build that will require EEV and Zero Day in main deck,

Most builds that are not Tri-Gate + set Appointer will have at least 2-3 bricks. Larger decks, most of which these builds are, will also be drawing these bricks less often and are more likely to draw into combo pieces. Not saying drawing into the bricks is impossible, but the brick ratio is also not all that different from what other builds are being labbed right now. Post IOC (assuming one day that will come out, copium), will also make the deck substantially more consistent even with these bricks in deck.
