I haven't played yugioh since TCG AGOV format but my pal been on me to get back in for like a year

Looked at the tier list and thought the snake sword guys looked cool but as I picked up the game the deck JUST got prayers to 1. :(

I still think the deck is quite strong but the biggest issue by FAR is the amount of non-games you run into by just opening "2x non-eng, Pre-Prep, Mirror, node/trap/kaiju/etc"

With prayers at 1+since I'm not on Magatama, sometimes with certain hands you're just left like "wtf am I even doing with these extra searches??"

• Magatama

Magatama was a card I was pretty mixed on bc many lists proir to the Prayers hit cut it. Since you do need just an amount of spells in deck to keep your tribute effs alive, you have to make up those spell names somehwere.

Magatama is potential endboard strength by being able to set 2 instead of just Purification+the ability to dance around spot interaction/some potential play going 2nd.

While the card has merit, I just opted to go for a third copy of ritual spell instead because I just wanted better hands. My main issue with the deck was constant grips that weren't letting me play. Opening Ritual Spell along with a starter, a ritual monster, or just multiple mitsu names allowed for either a much scarier endboard or, more importantly, a stronger ability to play through your opponents non-eng.

I opted for 3x Ritual spell over 2x Ritual Spell 1x Magatama but I can understand why anyone would pref the latter.

• Dragluxion vs 2x Aramasa

This one was a MUCH harder choice for me.

Imo, the biggest benefit to Dragluxion is it's ability to let you a run a min-mitsu engine; without Dragluxion you need 4 lvl 4 reptiles in your list for your Pre-Prep/Haba lines. You need a Level 4 to search off Prayers for NS and Haba eff sends 1, Rit send 2, and without a 4th you can't search a 4 off Prayers.

Yu-Gi-Oh is a game where non-engine is king so giving an ED slot to Dragluxion allows you to take 1 less mitsu name. Instead of making I:P/Mondo/Photon Lord you make Dragluxion>Seventh Tachyon>Ice Ryzeal; now you have yours NS. Before Ryzeal lock you can just link off Dragluxion with your Prayers monster reborn for I:P. Then just NS Ice and you can pretty easily go Duo>Dugares>Detonator.

My list boils down to "I just want more playable hands" and seeing Mitsu engine+Mitsu names for trib fodder (Wousu was my MVP lowk) mattered more to me than the second copy of Droll I was running.
