Notes & Combos
This was my fastest climb from p5 to m5 to day, technically it took 2 days from release of the k9 pack but it hit midnight of the 8th as I pushed from d1 to m5 so its 3 if you're being stingy.

That being said, I'm surpised that people on mdm haven't really tried something like this until right now as one of the more unique new decks we get out of this pack. The triangle format we're in makes it pretty standardised when it comes to preparing ourselves when we play an opponent and I think the ability to go k9 combo and set up 3 rank 5s and then be able to use Rahu to then also set up your backrow, an arthalion and a gulamel with faimena as backup to izuna is uniquely powerful. Also because of the triangle format thing, this deck does cover its bases and has a bit of a more even matchup spread compared to playing either vsk9 or pure dracotail.

Lets first talk about the reasons why you wouldn't want to play this hybrid:
- You lose the unique strengths and piloting experiences that either archetype provides on their own
- Some hands are very unsalvageable, like you can either draw faimena + engine and Izuna + handtraps or you can draw the quickplay, the traps and fuwa versus a matchup that doesnt SS much from the ED
- You have to do a LOT of cutting from the ED and main deck to keep this deck under 40

Now lets go onto what I've done with this deck and what I've noted in my climb
First and foremost, Dracotail horn is really not that great, and as you use the k9 package more and more it becomes more apparent that some of the flex ED monsters you would use in Dtail are either worse or just sidegrades to what you can play with a rank 5 toolbox, so as regrettable as it was to cut gulamel to 1 and filia regis entirely, you really open up your ceiling. Of course a problem is that dtail doesnt bridge into k9, but to be honest it doesnt need to, just like how you don't strictly need Saryuja to bridge between k9 and VS in that deck and you can just rely on you other engine to grind until you do. I only incorporated the werewolf and Nasch package from d3 onwards, partially because I made them for when I would eventually play VSK9, and those were the best decision I made tbh. Being able to use all the gas that K9 provides is great as there are times where you have too much gas and have nothing to do with the k9 monsters if you don't have that package.
Otherwise there really isn't much else to say, the deck's really fun and a bit bricky
Replays
When I was trying to see what lists were out there I had watched this video down the line so I'm gonna put this here as credit but I kind of just freestyled my own changes once i started playing the deck -
