Notes & Combos
This season, in contrast to the last one, was actually pretty easy. I guess I just got unlucky last time, because this run only took me a single day. Along the way, I made a few adjustments to the list. I removed four cards and added two. I cut Triple Tactics since I didn’t see it that often, and when I did, it usually felt like a win-more card. Maybe it would perform better at three, but I prefer the current setup. I also removed Droll. Even though it can win games against certain decks, I was mostly facing Dracotail, so it didn’t feel worth it. Plasma Hole was another cut, since you rarely search it, it can brick, and the board is already strong enough without it.
Instead, I added Gamma and Driver. The idea was simple: I needed to resolve my first play or stop Maxx “C”. Gamma ended up saving me a few times, which was more than enough to justify the inclusion. On top of that, Gamma and Driver are not dead cards in this deck. They can be used as cost for several effects, and thanks to Onomatopickup, you can turn them into Level 4 monsters, which makes them great for extending plays and going into Xyz lines.
Anti-Maxx “C” Package The build is centered around Heavy Slump as an answer to Maxx “C” and the Mulcharmy cards, inspired by top Duelist Cup lists. UDF protects Alembertian, allowing safe access to Heavy Slump or Astraltopia for extra extension and the counter trap. UDF also shields Heavy Slump from Ash Blossom, while Unbreakable Xyz Barrier covers Purge and Red Reboot. Gagagaga Girl can search the counter trap, freeing Alembertian to search Heavy Slump instead. If you consistently reach Alembertian, only double Red Reboot can realistically stop the setup, and UDF often wins the game by itself, usually alongside Detonator and a Cross.
Extra Deck The Extra Deck is extremely flexible. You can keep floodgate options or cut UDF for utility cards like Tornado Dragon. Other viable techs include Dugares for Lunalight, Light Dragon for protection, Granite to search Nibiru and trigger Twins, Rafflesia for safety, Utopic Future ZEXAL, or additional Duo Drives. The list can be easily adapted to the meta.
Red Reboot Red Reboot was one of the strongest cards in the deck, alongside Heavy Slump. With Dracotail and Odion being very common in Diamond, it carried many matchups and made the climb significantly easier.
